The D-225 is a "small missile ships" at soviet classification. May be should classified as corvette... Armed by supersonic anti ship cruise missiles. For selfdefence used twin 76-mm auto cannon and 4th 6x20 mm gatling gun for AA defence.
Yes, I think against 76mm AC certainly). But main protection for she are speed and maneuver. Also active countermeasure against missiles and guided bombs - laser and EM jamming, etc. Gatling gun also capable shutdown some type of missiles...
Your rotary cannons are nice to see. Modern Close In Weapon Systems or CIWS are capable of engaging and knocking out projectiles, anti ship missiles, threat aircraft, and surface (water borne) combatants such as Fast Attack Craft (FAC).
Current US Mk75 76.2mm rapid fire automatic cannons are capable of 80 rounds per minute where as the Russian counterparts (dual barrel) are capable of 120 rpm.
I like the hydrofoil system you've integrated into the designs. Very cool stuff =^^=
If I remember right, CIWS systems can hit supersonic missiles but are more likely to miss. There's a risk that the missile does get damaged but still hits the ship. Plus if there's many missiles coming at once
Thats why they are probably going to replace CIWS with SeaRAM systems wich launch something way more solid and with more energy at the incomming missile..
Also AEGIS ships can allready use the 120mm cannon as a CIWS shooting 120mm shells at them with incredible acuracy. As a note the spanish armada has not yet installed CIWS systems in their F100 AEGIS frigattes ... the explanation is that currently as the global situation they dont need a CIWS and it can be quickly installed if needed and they are waiting probably to install the SeaRAM system in the near future if it goes ahead
