The SMF-245 is a supersonic fighter, flying boat. Armed by two cannon and have two hardpoints above wing - only for Air-to-Air missiles, for defend it from water during landing
May used from many type of vessels, don't need flight desk and catapult - only crane for lower it into the water before takeoff and rise after landing

There was once a Nazi jet fighter that had it's only engine mounted directly behind the cockpit. It was terrible design because pilots that were forced to bail out would typically get sucked into the engine. This plan seems to have an added design feature of a perforated tear line, like a paper towel, between the fuselage and the engine.

Doesn't an engine above the wings produce downwards lift? Anyway, nice drawing, glad to see someone who draws in the same style as me.

not if fit properly, depends on the engine position but definitely not in that way as shown above.

If i'm not mistaken the US navy did have a jet powered boat plane in the early 60's

I tried to design a jet fighter flying boat once, but didn't come close to anything as clever as this. The engine placement is pretty ingenious, although I'd merge the two engine supports into one, to reduce drag. :meow:

I like it. Interesting how the layout to protect it from water (chines/LERX, top-mounted intake, internal or top-mounted weapons carriage, angled fuselage) might lend itself to RCS reduction (not to mention the maneuvering advantages offered by said LERX).

Interesting... I take it from the stepped hull that they don't use a Seadart-style retractable waterski?

Maybe. Or other country that used english language and write "navy" onboard of navy aircraft (As example - India - very strange to see Indian Mig 29 Fulcrum with "NAVY" on tail)
