The XT-25 is a main battle tank. Armament - double-barreled main gun - 125 mm, coaxial triple gatling machine gun - 12,7 mm, double-barreled anti-aircraft machine gun 20 mm, anti-aircraft missile system - three rockets such as Stinger or "IGLA", and reconnaissance drone.

Mother of mercy . This is the tank that has everything I like . BDW the main gun is just an ordinary cannor or more powerful stuff ?
Kassandrago Featured By Owner Dec 7, 2014

Hmm...double-barreled is so 1940s. It should be triple! Why is there no barrel on the hull facing the back so it can destroy enemies form behind? It needs also a 155mm howitzer for long range engagements.  And dont you forget the tactical nuke! I mean its basicaly standard for modern main battle tanks!

You. I like you.

I'm not sure I like this design. It looks ffreaking AWESOME, dont get me wrong. But I think it is trying to do too many things at once.
Double-barrel main gun; would need a hell of a lot of ammo storage. Same goes for the gatling co-axial.

The anti-aricraft turret; feasible, IF there is room for the ammo, and attacks from the air is that prevalent, and friendly aircover is lacking.

Missile system; Yup. This is a good idea. Perhaps with a multi-role missile in stead of anti-air only. Tanks/bunkers need taking out beyond main gun range? Use a missile.

The UAV; Nope. Unless you have a dedicated crewman controlling the thing, mounting something like that on a tank is pretty much useless.

There. I have iparted my armchair general knowledge (I.E. I have no hands on knowledge about tanks). It looks F**KING awesome! It just isnt feasible. At leasst not today.

UAV is no problem the size of the tank merits it's operation the AA Missiles although is in need of a Ammo carrier.

All it needs now is a hull mounted mortar peering out next to the drivers compartment.
parakitteh Featured By Owner Mar 27, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I'd also hate to have to point this out, but some of the parts of this tank are highly impractical. Twin-gun tanks don't work well, a gatling-type weapon is just not necessary and the box launcher is vulnerable, though that one's probably nothing more than a niggle. Many modern Gun-Launched Anti-Tank Guided Missiles are capable of engaging low-flying aircraft.

Agreed. Then again I'm the guy who thought up a 175 ton tank that is the MBT of a fic because speed doesn't cut as a defense mechanism anymore. It only has a 150mm coilgun, a duo of 12.7mm machineguns, a 12.7mm plasma pulse gun for active defense, and a secondary UVB-FEL cannon.
parakitteh Featured By Owner Mar 27, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
This actually looks really cool.
RedVolk Featured By Owner Mar 26, 2012
wow looks pretty cool, must have to carry a shite ton of ammo tho XD

Thats badass
GrimSheeper Featured By Owner Mar 26, 2012
Looks like the additions would be a bit of a problem in Urban environments, but as an MBT this looks to be a real monster.

TheXHS Featured By Owner Jan 24, 2012  Hobbyist Traditional Artist

Dja-Dja Featured By Owner Jan 25, 2012
TheXHS Featured By Owner Jan 30, 2012  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Dja-Dja Featured By Owner Jan 31, 2012

I think I commented on the original drawing of this, but I've got some new stuff to say. :D

First off, I loved the design from the start, although I think that it should be called the "XT-25 Overkill". XD I also really like the coloring job that you did, the detail and shading are amazing! (especially considering all those reactive-armor panels that have so many facets to color in)

Lastly, I have a few questions:
1.) Is the twin 125mm cannon a Gast-gun design? (an autocannon design where the recoil from firing one barrel loads and charges the other, used on several Soviet aircraft cannons like the Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-23) I ask because it seems like it would be very impractical to have a twin-gun main armament without some kind of auto-loading system.
2.) What are those little balls on chains towards the rear of the turret?
3.) Is the AA turret a remotely-controlled turret, or is it more like a separate turret with a crew member inside?
4.) Are there any specifications for the armor, crew, weight, dimensions and performance?
5.) This one isn't really a question, but more of an idea: I think it might be a little more practical if the UAV-launcher was a feature limited to command tanks, or the lead tank of a tank platoon. It just seems (to me) like that would be closer to reality, since command tanks are usually fitted with much more elaborate communications gear than standard tanks.

Sorry that this is so long, but these designs just put me in a really inquisitive mood. In general, the more questions I have about a design, the more interesting it is to me and the more I like it. Since this comment is so long, you should take that to mean that I really, REALLY love this design!!! :headbang: :+fav:

Balls and chains are a type of RPG protection used on the Merkava to protect the turret ring under the bustle rack, they work the same way as cage armour.
CommanderWolffe Featured By Owner Aug 20, 2011
Don't you think that this tank design would be a bit... "Expensive" to produce in mass-quantities, and to be re-supplying for it to be a Main Battle Tank? It sould be classified as like, "Heavy Battle Tank", or something, referring to the amount of damage it could do on a battlefield, as this looks like it could do a FAIR amount of damage in the battlefield, but once again, looks a bit expesive to produce and resupply en masse.

TheXHS Featured By Owner Aug 16, 2011  Hobbyist Traditional Artist

Besides the UAV launcher I can actually see this being in the field! =)

You should get a book called 'Armoured Warfare' by Tom Clancy. Brilliant book, I've only read up to artillery.

i agree with Armored Warfare

and why it UAVs? or it is not standard equipment?
why not that cool man :)
